Q: What is Jump Start Your Heart 5k and who profits from it?

A: Jump Start Your Heart is a community-wide philanthropic effort created by San Diego locals to help build support, awareness and funding for The Children’s Heart Foundation. It is a 100% non-profit 5k walk and run for people of all ages.

Q: What is The Children’s Heart Foundation?

A: The goal of The Children’s Heart Foundation is to bring health, hope and happiness to children impacted by congenital heart defects, the number one birth defect in the United States. Check out www.childrensheartfoundation.org

Q: Is there an age minimum or maximum for the race?

A: No. Our race is open to all ages. A bib number is required for every participant which will be provided before the start of the race.​

Q: What type of course is it?

A: Our 5k Run/Walk will be held on a paved course along the boardwalk of Mission Bay Park in Pacific Beach, CA. 5K is equivalent to 3.1 miles.

Q: Where do I park?

A: There is free parking in the parking lots and along the streets at De Anza Cove located at 3000 E Mission Bay Dr, San Diego, CA 92109.

Q: Where and When do I pick up my race packet?

A:  Early packet pick-up is available on Saturday, February 18th at Road Runner Sports, 5553 Copley Dr, San Diego, CA 92111 from 10 AM – 2 PM.  You may also pick-up your packet and race bib on event day. However, we strongly encourage you to beat the lines and come on Saturday!

Q: Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

A: Yes. Please have a copy of their photo ID and a signed copy of the waiver. Click here for the waiver to print.

​Q: I can’t run, can I still get my packet?

A: Yes, please stop by, or have a friend or family member stop by packet pick up to collect your bib and goodie bag. No goodie bags will be distributed after the close of the expo.

Q: I lost my race registration confirmation. What do I do?

Q: Can I get a refund?

A: Sorry, no refunds or transfers are allowed. As this is a non-profit event, all proceeds are going to support The Children’s Heart Foundation and every participant will receive a tax-deductible letter.

Q: Will there be Aid Stations on the course?

A: Yes. We will have water stations and medical support on the course and at the Finish Line.​

Q: Will this race be timed?

A: Yes!

Q: Is there a course time limit?

A: No. However, on-course support such as water stations, medical, and timing will end after 90 min. ​

Q: I can’t participate on February 19th

A: Sorry, all participant entries are non-transferable and non-refundable. All proceeds are benefitting The Children’s Heart Foundation.

Q: I have friends that would like to volunteer, can they help?

Q: Are strollers allowed?

A: Yes, however anyone with a stroller needs to start at the back of the group.

Q: Are bikes, roller skates, or skateboards allowed on the course?

A: No. But feel free to enjoy them after the race and in other areas of the park.

Q: Are pets allowed on the course?

A: No. The only exception are registered service dogs. This is due to City Regulations along the Boardwalk.

Q: Where are the restrooms located?

A: There are restrooms available at the Start and Finish of the race and also available along the boardwalk along the course.

Q: I want to register a team to participate, how do I do that?

A: Our registration site allows for individual entries only, but we can accommodate team registration on a unique basis. Please email us at jumpstartyourheartsd@gmail.com.

Q: Will you email me information closer to the event?

A: Yes, we will start to email you updates a month before the event. Please add jumpstartyourheartsd@gmail.com to your address book in order to make sure these emails are sent to your inbox.
